Most of you know, but for those who don't, the backwards flag on the right shoulder to show respect to and honor the 50 states who are represented by the 50 stars on the flag's canton, or the blue field that contains the white stars. The flag patch should look like the flag is flying in the wind, as if it were being carried it into battle. Wearing the backwards patch on the right shoulder makes it look like the one wearing it is moving forward. These rules help uphold the respect and honor our American flag deserves after the sacrifice of so many.
